Some very smart friends remember to reserve our favorite campsite year after year. It's a six month in advance reservation that sells out immediately after opening. It is similar to attempting to purchase a coveted online concert ticket. There is a battle; a video game button pushing war. There can only be one winner. Our family just mooches a space with the smart friends. They're a family of two with two tiny dogs, so it works out wonderfully. This year my cousin's husband contacted me before we left. He said he was going to be bringing his family (my cousin and their children) to same camping location a couple spots down in October. He asked if we could hide something cool for the kids to find. My brain exploded with glee at the challenge. A lot of people may not know it but I am a super nerd, a giant geek. I spent a whole afternoon at a reggae fest in Lake Tahoe in my early 20's identifying trees from a science book FOR FUN. I was more than ready to dork out. After creating a list of rhyming, awesome riddle clues with a super poet loving buddy, Jackie, one of the smarties, and Emerald, my daughter, we buried the treasure. I would have include the poetic clues, hand painted, below, and will be sure to add them after October when the treasure is unearthed, because otherwise the booty could be taken by scallywags (you). I always wanted to find a treasure and use a treasure map. The next best thing is creating one. I might have to get into this geo thing. It's so cool (since nerds are in--thank goodness, finally).
